What techniques are used to establish the genre?
The news story provides the audience with the idea of something unexpect is going to happen in every news story, publish as this relates to Galtung and Ruge theory of unexpectedness, this will makes every news story more newsworthy and this will make the audience more excited and more wiling to watch it. But on the other hand it provides more safety as it links to Abraham Maslow's Theory of needs as the audience feel comfortable.

Furthermore, BBC news is public service broadcaster in which they have to inform, educate and entertain, the audience to meet their needs as they are providing funding for BBC and should like what they are watching. The mise-en-scene the non-diegietic sounds  fit in the sequence of a report as it links with the voice over who provide the audience anchorage for the images, the clothing of the presenter is giving the sense of BBC being serious and showing the sense of BBC being formal as its been around for a long time. The editing use is fast and pacey and keeps the audience engaged.

Representation- How are people represented in the extract?
The presenter in this extract is put forward to be formal and serious, as the presenter views trying to put across as serious he is trying to do that through his clothing . David Cameron is prime minister who is represented negatively in this extract as he has to fix a economical downfall in society so this shows the audience that BBC provide  unbiased views but they are trying to inject ideas ( hypodermic needle)  about the political parties in our heads and to show the audience that they shouldn't vote the same party.

Institution- How is this text typical of BBC output?
This text is particular BBC output as it uses the same non diegietic sounds a the beginning of each BBC news report. Furthermore they use the colours read and white, and that connects with the idea that it is a British coroparation as it links with the saint Georges flag, the red in the flag and in the title represents power and determination and the white links with goodness and purity which shows the news isn't biased.
